SEGGAU CASTLE looms proudly over Southern Styria, a gorgeous landscape rolling off the Eastern slope of the Alps — the Southern Styrian wine-growing area is affectionately known as "Styrian Tuscany." Those who have stayed with us find it difficult to shake the lovely spell cast over them here.
A mere 40 kilometres south of Graz, the capital of the province of Styria, the visitor is greeted by a setting akin to the Mediterranean: Vineyards, culinary delights, traditional festivals, friendly people and a mild climate all beckon the visitor to stay.
Particularly in the autumn, when the sumptuous Styrian harvest graces dinner tables, it is hard to imagine a better place to enjoy the last warm rays of sunshine.
The Southern Styrian wine-growing area has numerous restaurants and Buschenschänken that cook up regional cuisine with an international touch, served with the champion wines that have long made this region so popular.
For active guests, the “Styrian Tuscany” offers attractive opportunities for biking, riding, skating and walking, as well as lots of greenery for any four-legged friends you might want to bring along. To cool off in the summertime, visitors can take a swim in Lake Sulmsee at the foot of Mt. Seggau.
